Scotland 2008, Part 2

Now that is breakfast. One egg, bacon, mushrooms, black pudding, tomatoes, and a potato scone. I only regret I didn't get a picture of the one with haggis instead of black pudding. This stuff is GOOD. I felt strong as an ox and ready to take on the whole British army if it came to it.

Instead we spent our days driving along narrow roads through near-psychedelic landscapes, stopping to look at fuzzy cows, ancient castles, clear waters and blue, blue sky.

A week in Scotland in April and we didn't get rained on once.

We made it to the Isle of Skye, where we toured the Talisker distillery (enjoying a wee dram) and on to Pitlochry, where we snuck out of the tour (they give the wee dram at the beginning) of the Edradour distillery, Scotland's smallest. Between the two fine single malts I preferred the Edradour. It had a little sweeter, less smoky flavor. I do live in the south and love my bourbon - and Edradour had a bourbon-y quality to it.

Finally we made our way down to Edinburgh, where Lupo flew in to meet us. The lovelies were staying another week but we had to head home. At least we got to hang out with L'Uomo for an evening, in a pub filled with Scots.

Il Economisto Italiano and I talked about the sub-prime crisis and how best to do international competitive intelligence. Marissa finished knitting Dani's hat and Marla was just Marla which is all she ever needs to be.

I would have liked to have seen more of Scotland - spent more time in Edinburgh, gone further north in to the Highlands, maybe done some hiking - but it is a place I could comfortably go back to and I hope I will someday.
